Fragments
A skittery, erratic attempt at a weblog. Rambles will be indulged and depths will be plumbed. Who knows what I'll come up with?

Weather: getting chilly
Listening to: I think that might be my pulse, behind my ears
Taking a break from: immuno summary

For the record

I am not up early this morning, I am up late last night.

Why? Oh, any number of things...procrastination, important debates on LearnLink, talent for self-distraction, more interesting but less urgent work, the fact that I really don't get this immunology stuff, the fact that I believe myself to be invincible (apparently).

Hopefully watching the sun set and then rise again without moving from this position has taught me a thing or two. I'm not nearly as upset as I should be about the state of things this year -- yet. Maybe I'll be wiser after I sleep some.

Weather: cool at night and in the morning, hot in the middle of the day
Listening to: someone's music in another room
Taking a break from: immuno reading

I dunno...

...if I'm such a big thinker, why can't I invent a way to get my work done faster?

Summary of Big-Thinkers
-Outspoken, ingenious and bored by routine
-Think of themselves as talkative, curious and self-sufficient
-May neglect the routine work required to make their plans successful

More about Big-Thinkers
Big Thinkers are always looking for the next big idea or opportunity. They’re adept at spotting trends and thinking on their feet. Big Thinkers like to jump in and find innovative solutions to complex problems and are good at developing strategies for the future.

In the UK, Big Thinkers are most likely to book a holiday at short notice, according to a nationwide survey.

Big Thinkers are usually curious, logical and energetic. This chatty group enjoys a good debate and asserting their opinions. Sometimes others may find the way they express their ideas too abrupt or challenging.

In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Big Thinkers may be rude, critical of others or rebellious. Under extreme stress, Big Thinkers can become preoccupied with unimportant details and lose sight of the 'big picture'.

Big Thinkers may ignore important details in their plans and overlook the impact their ideas have on the people around them.

Go here to take the test.

Weather: a little confusing
Listening to: myself typing
Taking a break from: organizational e-mails, etc.

Random thoughts, illness edition

-I get a nasty cold each and every year at the inception of the new University term. I don't know if it's a change in weather, the new immunological conditions dictated by a move back to res, or just getting worn down by all the stress of starting a new year. Whatever it is, it's a less than pleasant "Welcome back, Susan! Nice to have you!".
-I'm in creative writing. Finally. But I had to drop pathophysiology because the tutorial is 1) always mandatory, unlike most health science tutorials and 2) in conflict with Child Development Inquiry, which seems to require more class time than most other inquiries. So I picked up Critical Thinking instead (whoohoo.)
-London rocks. It just does.
-Everyone, please drive carefully.
-I still haven't bought textbooks yet. This is a major change from first year, when I was so stressed out about buying books that I got them before classes began. When am I planning to get them? I dunno...eventually....
-The people around me are stressed out about medical school applications and I'm stressed on all of their behalfs.
-My stomach is killing me.
-Über-romantic weekend in Niagara Falls this weekend just past. Man, am I a lucky girl.
-I've seen The Shawshank Redemption and Cruel Intentions since I got back to school, so Julie, I guess you can strike those off the list. If they were ever on the list. And while we're on the topic...Cruel Intentions is a seriously screwed-up movie! Having seen it, I'm intensely surprised that you like it enough to put it on Infamous Movielist...we'll have to discuss it sometime. ;)
-My throat is killing me too. Why does my body hate me?
-Immuno tomorrow. Maybe they'll shed some light on what's wrong with me.
-OK, I'm still a bit out of it...more sleep and soup for me...better/more coherent entry later.
